In the Community
At Old Basing Village Nursery school we embrace being part of the local community and making the most of our beautiful village surroundings. Whether it's our regular walk through the beautiful Oliver’s Battery or visiting the local church, we want our children to appreciate all that is around them.
St. Mary's Parish Church
We have visited the church at Christmas, Easter and for the harvest festival. The children are always fascinated by the building and enjoy the activity and sing-song that Reverend Heather prepares for us.
Old Basing Village Tea and Tots
Starting in the summer term 2021, we are sponsoring a new community group. Tea and Tots will be a parent run baby and toddler group in the Frank Goddard room for parents who missed the opportunity to socialise with others during lockdown. Tea and Tots will offer a coffee and a play on Thursday mornings. As the group establishes itself, it will be looking for more volunteers to assist with the running of the group and we look forward to also supporting the group with occasional stories, craft and rhyme time led by our wonderful team.
WildChild and Singers & Shakers
Our children love our weekly WildChild and Singers & Shakers sessions are both run by members of our community.
During Wild Child sessions, ecologist Ange Simmons teaches the children all about their local environment and its diverse flora and fauna in a fun and engaging way.
Qualified teacher, and leader of local choir Brittain’s Voices, Kathryn Brittain runs our Singers and Shakers sessions with the children having fun singing and making music with a range of instruments.
Local Businesses
Wherever possible we try and use local businesses across Basingstoke and Hampshire. As a small business ourselves we know the importance of supporting local businesses.
