What Makes Us Different
Learning through play, in a calm and purposeful environment.
Old Basing Village Nursery School is a family run, Ofsted Registered Early Years Setting for pre-school children aged from 1 years to 5 years; run by a team of experienced qualified teachers and early years practitioners and situated within the beautiful surroundings of the Old Basing Village Hall.
Our indoor space comprises of two spaces which include a dedicated baby room. Our light and spacious rooms enable our children to fully explore the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Our environment has been designed to flexibly accommodate their emerging needs at every step of their development. Our inside space is comprised of the following zones; home corner / role play, cosy corner, creative/mark making area, loose parts play / awe and wonder and small world where our children explore the areas freely at their own pace. Our highly skilled practitioners use ‘In the moment’ planning as a tool in which to observe and interact with the children starting with their interests and areas of development. Outside, we have a large, natural garden adjacent to Oliver’s Battery Nature reserve where the children can explore our construction area, mud kitchens, wooden climbing frame, slide, den building area and climbing tree.
We are always looking for ways to improve and develop our practice and take inspiration from well known early year’s theorists but do not operate with one sole theory in mind; instead, we use our experience as practitioners to select ideas that work for the children in our care and to help to nurture them as they develop within an environment that meets their emerging needs as well as to meet the requirements for the Statutory Early Year’s Curriculum. At Old Basing Village Nursery School the child is at the heart of all we do - that’s why we pride ourselves on our highly reflective approach, parent partnerships and well-considered, ever-evolving environment.
