At Old Basing Village Nursery School, we recognise the importance of encouraging healthy eating habits among both our students and team.

At Old Basing Village Nursery School, we recognise the importance of encouraging healthy eating habits among both our students and staff. We believe it is important for children, even from such a young age, to understand the importance of looking after their bodies and making healthy food choices. 

As often as we can, we offer food sensory experiences to our little ones so that they are able to explore textures, smells and tastes away from mealtimes. Food sensory activities can include tuff tray activities, meal preparation, baking and tasting different foods - perhaps foods from a different country or exotic fruits.

We provide all of the food your child may need during their day with us from a breakfast top up snack (in Early Bird club) to their midday meal. Depending on age, and individual routines, younger children may be offered additional snacks (we will liaise with parents regarding any deviation from our usual meal schedule).

 

Our catering partners, Hungry Moose are local to Basingstoke and have a team of dedicated chefs who plan our menus with our children in mind. They happily cater for those children with allergies, intolerances, preferences, or require a specific diet on religious grounds. 

 

OBVNS provide a healthy breakfast snack to children attending our Early Bird Club, a wholesome mid-morning snack and a hot cooked lunch with dessert. Our menus are nutritious and varied, embracing a wide array of dishes from around the world.

Our menus follow a 4-week rotating format which are updated seasonally to incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients. This quarterly change ensures that children at our nursery have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of foods from around the world as they grow and develop.
